Zena Karen Hudson, 76, of Lynchburg, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 14, 2026, with her family by her side.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Margaret Collins Hudson; father, Addison Vaughan Hudson; brother, Addison Ray Hudson (Jackie); nephew, Stanley Vaughan Hudson; and her fiancé, William "Bill" Potter.

Karen worked for Pearson Drugstore for many years before retiring. She cherished spending time with her family, enjoyed working puzzles, and was always ready for a game of trivia.

She is survived by her loving sister and best friend, Linda Carter Macdonald and her husband, James "Mac" Macdonald. She is also survived by nieces and nephews who were like children to her: Melissa Davis (Steve), Danny Carter (Trina), and Angela Carter (Jerry Meadows). In addition, she leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews, as well as her best friend of 60 years, Donna Taylor Murray.

The family would like to thank Centra Hospice, Nurse Ebony with Wyndhurst Health and Rehab, and Karens dear friends at Wesley Apartments for their care, compassion, and support.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Fort Hill Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
