Yvonne Hill Thomas, 87, of Davidson, NC, passed away at her residence on August 13, 2026. She was born on December 31, 1938, in Piney River, Virginia, to Welton Lucian Hill and Rhoda Muriel Brown.
She is preceded in death by her husband William “Tojoe” Knight Thomas; her parents, and siblings, Thomas "Tommy" Hill, Robert Hill, Howard Hill, and Ruth Hill Randolph. She is survived by her sister-in-law Alice Hill.
After working many years at General Electric (G.E.), Yvonne worked at Weyerhaeuser in Lynchburg, VA, where she retired before relocating to Davidson, NC. She was a devoted woman of God, serving as President of the Usher Board at Fellowship Church of Christ before becoming a faithful member of New Birth ICM.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories, her children: Victor Thomas (Peggy), Debra Thomas, Rhonda Thomas, Ruth Thomas, Kelvin Thomas (Demetrise), Patricia Thomas-Parrish, and Pamela Thomas.
She also leaves behind 14 grandchildren: Keisha Smith, Starshema Reams (Chris), Kanitra Langrum, Lakita Moore, Nina Polley, LaShunna Thomas, Antonio Thomas, Nathan Thomas, Anthony “A.J.” Parrish, Brianna Parrish Petty (Samuel), and Miracle Parrish. Bonus grandchildren: Vernon Pannell (Sharon), Sonja Pannell, and Nicole Tanner.
She was also blessed with 16 great-grandchildren: Marvin "Duece" Brown, Sidney Brown, Giani Avert, Michael Paul, Lauren Polley, London Polley, Amiyah Thomas, Derek "Ace" Polley, JaKavion Revely, Charity Reams, Jayceon Revely, Nailah Polley and Jrue Petty. Bonus great-grands: Steven Pannell, DeShea Rose, Tiani Pannell, and Vonte Pannell.
She was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. As well as a beloved aunt to her nieces and nephews. She was an adopted mother to many, as she claimed and loved them as her own. She also leaves behind a host of loving family and friends.
John 11:25-26 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?”
A celebration of Yvonne's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Heritage Baptist Church 219 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg. The family will be receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2026, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.
