Yvonne Marie Henderson

Yvonne Marie Henderson, 73, entered into eternal rest on December 17, 2025. A pillar of strength and a beacon of joy for her family, Yvonne’s life was defined by her unwavering faith, her tireless work ethic, and a smile that could illuminate any room.

Yvonne was a dedicated professional, serving at the Central Virginia Training Center (CVTC) for 45 years. Her commitment to her work was matched only by her devotion to her spiritual home, Forest Level Baptist Church, where she was an active member and a faithful voice in the choir for many years.

Affectionately known as a "soldier" for her family, Yvonne was the foundation of the Henderson household. She was a master chef who ensured that no one ever went hungry and that her loved ones were always well cared for. Beyond her culinary talents, she was known for her contagious laughter and her love for gospel hymns. She cherished her long-term friendships, often spending hours on the phone catching up with those she held dear.

She was the beloved daughter of the late Wyatt Anderson Sr. and Queen Elsie Robinson Anderson. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Jessie Robinson, Wyatt Anderson Jr. (Mane), and James Anderson (Fred).

Yvonne is survived by her devoted husband of 52 years, Henry Henderson Sr. Together, they built a beautiful legacy through their children, Stephanie Henderson and Henry (JR) Henderson Jr.

Her memory will be cherished by her nine grandchildren: Ajah, Dereka, Chandler, Malikai, Carter, Janiya, Journi, Kinsley, and Chance; and her two great-granddaughters, Miya and Macie. She also leaves behind her brother, Timothy (Tim) Anderson; six sisters, Delois Coles (Reverend Rubin), Jinnie Proctor, Shirley Anderson (Daniel), Minister Lisa Anderson, Jacqueline Haynes (Lester), and Rita Anderson (Chuck); as well as a host of devoted nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

A celebration of Yvonne’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 28, 2025, at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, 220 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg, VA 24502, with Pastor Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Level Baptist Church.

Mrs. Henderson will be open for viewing on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.
