William "Bill" Richardson

William “Bill” Henry Richardson, 80, of Lynchburg, passed away Sunday, August 31, 2025, at home surrounded by his family. He was the devoted husband of Brenda Whitt Richardson for 58 years.

William was born on February 28, 1945, in Narrows, Virginia, a son of the late Ira Bernard Richardson and Catherine Shank Richardson. William was a graduate of Lynchburg College with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. He began his career as a Chemist at Radford Arsenal and then worked as a chemist with General Electric in Lynchburg, Virginia. He finished his career at Ericsson and BWXT as an Industrial Safety Engineer. He was a long-time member of Timberlake Christian Church in Lynchburg, Virginia.

He will be remembered for his love and devotion to his wife and children. He was a humble man, full of love and wisdom and was a consummate provider and protector. He had a quick wit and a love for the outdoors. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, and spending time at the beach and lake with his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three sons: Clay Richardson (Rhonda) of Forest, Michael Richardson (Michelle) of Goode, and Jason Richardson (Alison) of Forest; sister, Betty Guthrow (William) of Richmond; brother, Robert Richardson of Shawsville, VA; and thirteen grandchildren: Jake, Kate, Noah, Sierra, Steele, Bradley, Kayleigh, Reese, Faith, Sara Harper, Avalyn, Harlan, and Wrenly.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 2:00 p.m.- 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Timberlake Christian Church.

A Celebration of William’s Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2025 at Timberlake Christian Church with the Rev. Ben Moore officiating. Interment will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 7, 2025 at Fairview Cemetery in Narrows, VA.
