William Robert Jenkins, 73, of Lynchburg, Virginia, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, service, and quiet strength. Born on June 12, 1952, in Harrisonburg, Virginia, he was the son of the late William Thompson Jenkins and Geneva Curry Jenkins.
William was a graduate of Fort Defiance High School and went on to further his education at St. Augustine University, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. He carried a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for learning throughout his life.
A devoted member of Court Street Baptist Church in Lynchburg, William was known for his generous heart and willingness to serve others. He found great joy in giving back to his community, especially through efforts to help feed those in need. Whether through his service or simply spending time with loved ones, William valued connection, compassion, and fellowship.
He is lovingly remembered by his niece, Tonja Davis-Allen (John); nephews, Irvin E. Davis and Shawn E. Davis (Shanna); great-niece, Sariayh Davis; and great-nephews, Eligah Kiser and Sebastian Davis, along with a host of extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.
In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his sisters, Curry Jenkins Davis (Irvin F. Davis) and Jessie Jenkins-Jones (Garnett Jones); and his grandparents, Robert and Vivian Jenkins and Blanche Brown.
A memorial service to celebrate William’s life will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Tharp Funeral Home, 220 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg, Virginia, with Pastor Ernest Scott officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a local food bank or homeless shelter in honor of William’s giving spirit.
