William James Dunford Jr.

William James Dunford Jr., 87, of Lynchburg, died Friday, January 1, 2010.  He was the husband of Janet Price Dunford for 65 years.

Mr. Dunford was born November 24, 1922 in Campbell County, VA, a son of the late William James Dunford, Sr. and Virginia Wood Dunford.  He proudly served our country as an X-Ray Technician in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.  He retired from Lynchburg Foundry where he was a Pattern Maker for 42 years.  He was a charter member of Timberlake United Methodist Church.

In addition to his spouse, he is survived by his children: Billie Lee Dunford-Jackson and her husband Stan, of Reno, NV; Tim Dunford and his wife, Barbara, of Fernandina Beach, FL;  his grandchildren: Joshua Dunford and his wife, Kelly, of Ashburn and Amanda Dunford of Lynchburg.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:30 pm on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at Tharp Funeral Home.  A funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 am on Thursday, January 7, 2010 at Timberlake United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Bryant and Rev. C. Douglas Pillow officiating.  Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum.
