William "Bill" Cheatwood Sr, of Lynchburg, a devoted husband, father, grandfather. great grandfather, great great grandfather, friend, was born on September 19, 1924, and passed away peacefully on Oct 8, 2025 at the age of 101, at Oakwood Health and Rehab, Bedford, Va.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Wiley Cheatwood and his great, great granddaughter Georgia Rose Tomlin.

Survived by his son William Cheatwood, Jr. and wife Shirley. Grandsons, William Cheawood, III (Tara). Mike Cheatwood (Stefanie). Great Grandchildren, William Cheatwood, IV (Nicole), Zack Cheatwood (Kasie). Great Granddaughters, Ally Tomlin (Quade), Caroline Cheatwood and Jessica Robinson (Trevor) Great, great grandchildren, Ruth Tomlin, Elli & Carter Robinson, and William Cheatwood, V (Due 2026). Son Allen Cheatwood and wife Nancy and grandson Christoper (Liling) and great grandson Andrew Cheatwood and granddaughter Gabriella Cheatwood and step granddaughters Joyce and Julie and two great granddaughters Amy and Addie Cheatwood. Daughter Sharon Bush (Donnie), Granddaughters Kelly Mays (Frankie) and Lisa Lavender (Frank), Great Granddaughters Madison Droog (Chase), and Faith Lavender, Great Grandsons Franklin (Brianna) and Jack Mays, and Great Great Grandson Dallas Droog.

Bill graduated from Boonesboro High School, was a WWII Army veteran and the last living founding member of the Compassion Church of the Nazarene on Wards Ferry Rd, Lynchburg, VA.

Over his lifetime Bill had a variety of jobs the last of which was at Hooper Plumbing on Timberlake Rd, working till the age of 92.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a graveside on service on Monday, October 13, 2025, at 2:30PM at Virginia Memorial Park, route 221, Forest, Va. There will be a viewing from 1 - 2PM at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, on Monday, October 13, 2025. 

Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
