William Henry Cabell, of Lynchburg, Virginia, passed away peacefully on February 27, 2026, with his wife by his side. He was born on June 5, 1946, in Virginia to his beloved mother, Dorothy Cabell.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Cabell, and his sister, Bianca Cabell.
William Henry Cabell (affectionately known as “Eagle Man” and “Binky”) was a devoted husband to his wife, Doreathea Cabell, with whom he shared 49 years of marriage rooted in commitment, loyalty, laughter, and enduring love. Their bond was one filled with humor, playful banter, and deep companionship that stood the test of time.
A hardworking and dependable man, William retired from the City of Lynchburg after many years of dedicated service. He took great pride in his work and in providing for his family. Known for his strong work ethic and friendly spirit, he made lasting connections everywhere he went and left a positive impression on all who knew him throughout the city.
Faith was an important part of his life. He was a longtime member of Rose Chapel Church and later attended Jesus Apostolic Center, where he was baptized and continued his walk of faith.
To many, he was affectionately known as “Eagle Man,” a diehard Philadelphia Eagles fan whose love for his team was unmatched. To his family, he was a man full of laughter, wisdom, and heart. He had a special gift for giving nicknames, each one spoken with love, and he especially delighted in nicknaming his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating bonds they will cherish forever.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Doreathea Cabell; his three daughters, Corrine aka SGT Slaughter, Sonya aka Punkin, and Monica aka Moochie; and his six beloved grandchildren: LaShante (a.k.a. Lukes) (Rashad), April (a.k.a. Red Bottom),
Dymond (a.k.a. Boo Girl), Jhalil (a.k.a. Whistle), Charles (a.k.a. Bucket), and Jharee (a.k.a. Peewee). A devoted friend but more like a sister Norma Jean Johnson. A longtime friend, Mitchell Nuckles and as he called him his “favorite brother in law” Nelson Bateman.
He also leaves behind 15 great-grandchildren whom he nicknamed and loved deeply, along with a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who were all touched by his warmth and humor.
William Henry Cabell was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His legacy lives on through the love he gave, the laughter he shared, and the family he held so close. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
