William Adams Dooley
William Adams Dooley, 87, of Lynchburg, VA, died Saturday, December 22, 2012. He was the beloved husband of Alice Chambers Dooley for 65 years.
Born Friday, November 13, 1925 in Lynchburg, Bill was a son of the late Aubrey Clarence Dooley and the late Goldie Turner Dooley.
In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by a son William Aubrey Dooley and his wife Gerry, of Colleen, VA, two daughters: Jane D. Gowin and her husband, Ronnie, of Appomattox, and Betty D. Paul and her husband, Bruce, of Bedford; five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and a sister-in-law, Helen S. Dooley, Lynchburg.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a son, Stephen Lee Dooley, two brothers: A. Mark Dooley, and Paul F. Dooley, a sister, Mary D. Tuck, a sister in\""law, Doris H. Dooley, and a brother\""in\""law, Aubrey Tuck.
Bill was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He could fix anything. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing, and camping. He was an honest, humble man with a good sense of humor. Bill was a HAM operator, his call letters were W4FLU (Flu Bug). Bill proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a retired machinist with Babcock & Wilcox and a member of Peakland UMC.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 28, 2012 at Fort Hill Memorial Park with Rev. Ronald D. Moore officiating.
