Wayne Carrol Farthing

Wayne Carroll Farthing was born on March 12, 1937 in Pittsylvania County to Charles and Thelma Farthing. He was married to Kathleen May Mathews, his wife of 68 years. Wayne, his family and some of her friends called her 'Pete'. Together they had 6 children. Sadly they lost two sons along the way.

As time went on Wayne and Pete welcomed 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grands.

Wayne's career in life was installing ceramic tile and stone in kitchens, bathrooms and outdoor areas as well as commercial flooring. He took a lot of pride in his work but it took a toll on his body. Arthritis led to an early retirement.

Wayne enjoyed home cooked meals and desserts,cars and trucks, country music and watching television.

"I have lived a long life", he would often say.

Wayne passed away on September 4, 2022.

He was in his 85th year.
