Virginia "Jenny" Marie Butler

Virginia Marie "Jenny" Butler, 46, of Lexington, Virginia, passed away peacefully on July 20, 2026, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, surrounded by her loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Jenny was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend whose love for her family knew no bounds. Her strength, compassion, and unwavering faith carried her through life's challenges and touched the lives of everyone who knew her.

Born to Elizabeth "Sissy" Bowyer and the late Victor Milo Byers, Jenny spent her life creating meaningful relationships and treasured memories with those she loved. A proud graduate of Rockbridge County High School, she was known for her strong work ethic and dedication throughout her years of employment with Mohawk Industries and Modine Manufacturing.

Above all, Jenny's greatest joy was her family. Her children and granddaughter were the center of her world, and nothing made her happier than being present for the people she loved most. Whether it was basketball, football, track, or any other activity involving her children, Jenny could always be found in the stands cheering them on. She was their biggest supporter and loudest fan, celebrating every achievement and encouraging them through every challenge.

Jenny will be remembered for her kind heart, generous spirit, infectious laugh, and deep faith. She made everyone feel welcome, loved, and valued. Her compassion, selflessness, and willingness to help others left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 20 years, Sherrod "Duane" Butler; her sons, Damitri (Keyonna) Dandridge, Dacomha Dandridge, and Sherrod "Dee" Butler, Jr.; her daughters, Desirae Butler and Ebony Butler; her stepdaughter, Kyla Butler; and her beloved granddaughter, Nahla Dandridge. Together, they were her pride and joy and brought immeasurable love and happiness to her life.

She is also survived by her mother, Elizabeth "Sissy" Bowyer; her brothers, Milo (Rachel) Byers and Wilton (Kristen) Byers; her father-in-law, David Harris, Sr., and stepmother-in-law, Margaret Harris; her brothers-in-law, Rasjohn Harris, Kenny Harris, and David Harris Jr.; her sister-in-law, Vontae Harris; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Jenny was preceded in death by her father, Victor Milo Byers; her beloved grandmother, Marjorie Byers; and her mother-in-law, Sherry Butler.

Though her earthly journey has ended, Jenny's love, strength, and faith will continue to live on through her family and all those whose lives she touched. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved her.

Funeral arrangements will be announced by the family at a later date.
