Virginia “Sue” Scott Brammer, 82, of Lynchburg, died Monday, June 23, 2025. She was the wife of the late James Howard Brammer, Jr.
Sue Brammer was born May 3, 1943, in Bedford, VA. She was the daughter of the late Morris Winston Scott, Sr. and Lovelyn Weeks Scott. She was dedicated to her family and to keeping an immaculate home. She was also a vital contributor to the family’s business, Brammer Safety Supply. Sue was a passionate golfer, and her love of the game led her to founding the Mountain River Women's Golf Association, which remains active today. She also established similar women's golfing groups in Emerald Isle, NC and Whispering Pines, NC. For many years, Sue organized the E.C. Glass Class of 1961 reunions and luncheons. An avid reader, she started a book club in Lynchburg that continues to thrive.
She is survived by her children, James “Jay” Brammer and wife, Julie, of Lynchburg, and Jill Brammer Ware of Richmond; 4 grandchildren, Katie Gray Brammer, Jeb Brammer, Marshall “Mac” Ware, and Riley Ware. She is also survived by her brother Morris “Butch” Scott and wife, Linda of Rustburg, sister Terri K. Hargis of Lynchburg, and brother Berkley “Buck” Scott of Forest, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The visitation will begin at 2pm on Friday, June 27, 2025, followed by a memorial service at 3pm.
Memorial contributions may be sent to the Lynchburg Humane Society, The Daily Bread, The Girls and Boys Club of Greater Lynchburg, and the Tyler Wray Coleman Scholarship at Brookville High School - please make checks to Brookville High School with TWC memorial 45 in the memo.
