With a life defined by love, kindness, and devotion, Vanessa Calloway Callaham touched the hearts of all who knew her. Her unwavering faith and gentle spirit left a lasting impact on her family and friends. On November 11, 2025, in Lynchburg, VA, Vanessa, a loving mother, cherished grandmother, beloved sister, and devoted aunt, departed peacefully at the age of 63, leaving behind memories to be treasured forever.
Vanessa was born on August 22, 1962, in Bedford, VA, to Harvey Meadows and Lizzie Calloway. She was a proud graduate of Jefferson Forest High School and later worked for C.B. Fleet. A devoted member of St. Paul Baptist Church, Vanessa found joy in the simple and meaningful: spending time with family, sharing laughter, and offering warmth and encouragement to all around her.
Vanessa is survived by her sons: Michael Callaham, Lorenzo Smith, Quinton Calloway, and Dajuan Jennings; her grandchildren: Leigha, Janelle, Breanna, Johnathan, Reese, Peyton, Violet, Zuri, and Sofia; her siblings: Sherman (Dianne) Calloway, Herman (Mary) Calloway, Alfonza Calloway, Mattie (Alfred) Hall, Harvey Calloway, Virginia Brown, Becky Calloway, and Denise Calloway; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Vanessa was preceded in death by her foster parents Earl and Hattie Mae Calloway; her brothers: Richard, Leon, Marvin, Jerome, and Tyrone Calloway; her sisters: Louise Hall, Deborah, Pamela, and Cheryl Calloway; and her granddaughter: Alorabelle Calloway. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy of love remains everlasting.
A visitation will be held on Friday, November 21, 2025 from 6:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.
A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Paul Baptist Church 4693 Everett Rd. Forest, VA 24551.
