Ted A. Swanson

Born July 30, 1931 in Chicago, Ted graduated from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1954. He then began a 40-year career with General Electric that included assignments across the United States and international posts in Frankfurt and Milan. He loved to travel and experience new places and people.

Ted was known for his kindness, genuine interest in others, and keen sense of humor. He was active in the Kiwanis Club of Lynchburg and St. John’s Episcopal Church.

Ted was preceded in death by his wife of 30 years, Mary Lou, in 1986. He married Joan Elllis in 1992, and she survives him. He is also survived by sons Bruce (Mary Scott) and Kurt, three grandchildren Harry (Tran Tran), Charlie (Emma Cleason) and Ashley Smith (Alan), great-granddaughter Aubrey Smith, two nephews and two great-nephews.

In lieu of flowers, Ted would want those who knew him to share time and laughter with loved ones. Contributions in his honor may be made to the charity of your choice.
