On August 17, 2026, Tammy Tomlin Rogers, 58, of Lynchburg, Virginia, was called home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was welcomed in by her beloved son Samuel Kovey Rogers. She was an understanding, forgiving, and most importantly, loving wife, “puffels,” to Ronnie William Rogers, Jr. She was a perfect mother to William Rogers (Cassidy) and an adored grandmother to Zoie Worley. She was a protective twin sister, “sissy,” to Terry Tomlin Lanham (Reid). She was a faithful sister to Clayton Neil Tomlin.
Tammy was born on July 12, 1968, in Lynchburg, Virginia, to Clayton and Evelyn S. Tomlin. She graduated from Lynchburg Christian Academy and went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in business management from Liberty University. She was called by God into the talent acquisition field, where she held an accomplished 15-year career at BWXT.
Tammy was a lifelong member of Thomas Road Baptist Church, while later finding her home at Waymaker Church. She was a fierce follower of Christ, spreading the good news to anyone who would listen. She was a living testimony of Jeremiah 29:11.
She was enthusiastic about cooking, baking her famous cupcakes, creating art, reading a good book, and finding a dainty piece of jewelry. She cherished nature, from the mountains to the ocean. She was a lover of all things tie-dye, denim, and fringed. She was drawn to wildflowers, butterflies, lightning bugs, and mushrooms. She loved finding a blooming honeysuckle and gazing at the moon and stars. She also loved all kinds of music, from old-time gospel to the Eagles and Prince. She never missed an opportunity to cheer on her Pittsburgh Penguins or Washington Redskins.
She was an intentional, passionate friend to many, a generous giver when called, and a shoulder to lean on for anyone who needed her. She was a special aunt to Kayla Marie, Kelly Jo, Jacob, and Clay. She held an unbreakable bond with “the cousins,” Robin Mays and Paula Ballas, alongside best friends, Roxie Maule and Lisa Calloway. She was “moosey” to brother Craig Tomlin (deceased).
A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 27, 2026, from 6 to 7:30 PM at Waymaker Church, 1650 Hooper Rd., Forest, VA. A celebration of Tammy’s life will be held on Friday, August 28, 2026, at 11 AM at Waymaker Church with Tyler Lower officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the UVA Comprehensive Cancer Center or Waymaker Church.
In the spirit of Tammy, attendees are encouraged to wear tie-dye, fringe, denim, or anything groovy.
Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg is assisting the family.
