Sterling Lewis Thomas

Sterling Thomas, 78, of Rustburg, Virginia, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2025. Born in Lynchburg, Virginia on April 10, 1947, Sterling was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Thomas.

Sterling is survived by his sons, Chris Thomas (Pam) and Mike Thomas (Brittany); his cherished grandsons, Benjamin Thomas and Bentley Thomas; and his sister, Ann Epps (Ronnie). A Navy veteran and retiree of BWXT, Sterling will be remembered for his strong work ethic and deep love for his family, with whom he spent his happiest times.

A family night to honor Sterling’s life will be held on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home in Lynchburg.

He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
