Stephen Russell Burkett

Steve Burkett of Lynchburg passed away on Friday, August 22. Steve was born in Richmond, Indiana to Russell and Ruth Burkett. He is survived by his wife Judy Woten and his brother David Burkett of Richmond, VA, wife Susan, and sons Jonathon, Danny, and Kevin.

Steve loved music and taught band for many years at private and public schools. Steve played trumpet in the Lynchburg Pops Band and entertained kids each Halloween playing his trumpet for them as they trick-or-treated in Wyndhurst.

Steve had a passion for sailing, spending vacation time at Ocean Isle Beach, NC, and Charleston, SC, and spending time with his stepfamily Amy and Dave Almquist, grandchildren Kate and Ryan Almquist.

No services will be held at this time.
