Shirley Ann Smith

Shirley Ann Smith, 64, of Lynchburg, passed away on Saturday, March 23, 2024.

She was born on July 4, 1959, to the late Hariett Emmalene Webster and Melvin Smith.

Shirley worked at C.B. Fleet for 28 years. Her favorite hobbies were dancing, singing, playing cards, reading books, and watching football. She would go over to her mother’s house on Sundays, which they would all call family day, with a lot of dancing, listening to music, and just enjoying family. She was a member of Holcomb Rock Baptist Church and sang on the choir. 

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Melvin Smith, Jr.

She is survived by five sisters, Barbara Williams (Rodney) of North Carolina, Mary Smith, Melvina Smith, Carolyn Coles, and Melinda Smith, all of Lynchburg, Virginia; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, family, and friends. 

To be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord. We won’t say goodbye to Shirley, we will just say farewell. We will always miss and love you.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 29, 2024, at Holcomb Rock Baptist Church.
