Shirley Hiser

The Lord welcomed His daughter, Shirley Gayle Harris Hiser, into His arms on July 25, 2025. She spent her entire life in her beloved village of Concord, where she was known for her warmth, kindness, and dedication to family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Ellen Harris; her sister, Dorothy H. Millner; and her brothers, Alton Harris and Eugene Harris.

Shirley was loving and hardworking. She took great pride in being a devoted mother to her four surviving children: Telina Hiser, Theresa Baker (Rick), Tracie Dobyns (Terry), and Todd Hiser (Sarah). She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Jeffery Rosser (Samantha), David Rosser (Madeline), Matthew Rosser (Jessica), Hilary Creasey (Austin), Meredith Dobyns, Shane Dobyns, and Sigrid Hiser; as well as sixteen great-grandchildren. Her surviving sisters are Janie Cousins, Carol Nadine Pulliam, Barbara Austin, and Gladys Harris. She is also lovingly remembered by special cousins, Glenda Fishpaw and Winfred Lee Doss.

Shirley left a lasting impression through her love of cooking, baking, and singing, which brought joy to everyone around her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Graveside services will be held at New Concord Presbyterian Church on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.

The family expresses heartfelt thanks to the Courtyard Staff at Bedford County Nursing Home, Centra Hospice, and Gentle Shepherd Hospice for their compassionate care.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Shirley's memory.
