Shirley Virginia Goff, passed away surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at the age of 81. She was the wife of the late Charlie Eugene "Big Pete" Goff.
Born on December 20, 1943, in Bedford, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late James Lewis Goff and the late Ellen Tolley Goff. She dedicated a significant part of her life to her career, retiring after 33 years from Bedford Weaving Mill.
Shirley was known for her vibrant spirit and her love for life. She enjoyed many hobbies, including dancing, music, gardening, and spending time outdoors. Her family meant the world to her, and she cherished her dog, Liz, who was often by her side.
In addition to husband and parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Brooklin MaKhia Goff, her siblings, James Calvin Goff (Peggy), Dillard Allen Goff (Ella Mae), Gordon Booker Goff (Betty Mae), Dorothy Mae (Mule), Mary Ellen Mayo (Bill), and Mary Elizabeth Byrd (Buddy), and her nephew, Michael “Mudd” Goff.
She leaves behind her three daughters, Barbara Harler (Tyke), Tracy Goff, and Veronica Goff. Shirley was also a proud grandmother to nine grandchildren: Lorna Goff (Elton), Felicia Coleman, Brittney Coleman (Bo), Terri Goff, Courtney Birch, Sierra Goff (Brooklyn), Trevor Goff, Trayvon Cashwell (Kali), and Drake Coles. Her family continued to grow with 18 great-grandchildren: Kenshia, Jasmine (Shawn), Julius, Kevin, Olivia, Charlie, Gracie, Tymberlee, Makayla, Myia, Aiden, T.J., Talon, Tinsley, Kalani, Kannon, Tristian, and Kashton. Her great-great-grandchildren: Liam, Laylae, Ivy Rose, Alias, and Monroe. Additionally, she is survived by her sister, Patricia Hickman (Chester), a special nephew, Randy Byrd (Vonice), and special nieces, Kathy Long (Robert), Airetta "Sissy" Johnson, Vicki Goff (Bobby) and Shelby Burks.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 21, 2025, from 6 PM to 8 PM at Tharp Funeral Home in Bedford. A funeral service celebrating Shirley's life will take place on Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 11 AM at Hunting Creek Baptist Church in Big Island, interment to follow in the church cemetery.
