Shirley Dooley Comer

Shirley Virginia Dooley Comer, 75, of Bedford died Friday, December 16, 2011. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen Berkley Comer.

Born September 30, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Herman Dooley and the late Anna Belle Carter Dooley.

Shirley is survived by three sons: Bobby Comer and his wife, Michelle of Norfolk, VA, Rick Comer and his wife, Robin of Thaxton, VA and Tim Comer of Bedford, VA; one brother, Roland Earl Dooley of Bedford; five grandchildren: Ryan, Matthew, Derek, Haley and Lesley Comer and one great-grandchild: Gabriel Comer.

She loved flowers and her pet cats and dogs; she loved her grandkids, encouraged her grandsons in sports and her granddaughters in dance and would attend as many of their events as possible.   She was an avid Dallas Cowboy Fan watching every game and cheering them to win.

A funeral service will be at 1:00 pm on Monday, December 19, 2011 in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford with the Rev. Dr. David L. Henderson officiating. Interment will follow in Virginia Memorial Park. The family will receive friends today, December 18, 2011 at Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford from 2:00 \"" 4:00 pm.
