Sherman Spencer Jones

Sherman Spencer Jones, 83, of Lynchburg, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2026. He was the devoted husband of the late Sandra Campbell Jones.

Sherman was born on June 9, 1943, in Lynchburg, Virginia, a son of the late Willie Jones and Grace Spencer Jones. Sherman honorably served his country in the U.S Air Force, was retired from BWX Technologies and was a member of Timberlake Church in Lynchburg.

He is survived by a daughter Sherry Johnson and her husband Mark of Lynchburg, a son Steven Jones of Georgia, four grandchildren: Melody Dally and husband Jesse, Sophia McKnight and husband Dristen, Grayson Johnson and his wife Emilie, and Brayden Johnson, one brother Bobby Jones and his wife Wanda of Amherst, and two great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 3, 2026, at Timberlake Church in Lynchburg.

A Celebration of Sherman’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 3, 2026, at Timberlake Church with Mark Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
