Shane Godsey, 50, of Lynchburg, Virgina, passed away on June 21, 2025.

Born on February 7, 1975, in Lynchburg, Virginia, Shane was known for his unwavering loyalty, strength of spirit, and deep love for his family, friends and country.

He proudly served in the United States Marine Corp, where he demonstrated courage, discipline, and a commitment to protecting others.

He will be remembered for his fierce sense of humor, gentle heart and his ability to make anyone feel at home in his presence.

Shane is preceded in death by his ever-loving grandmother, Lucille Saunders; his great grandfather, Robert Saunders Sr; and his brother, Chad Moore.

Shane is survived by his wife, Wendy Witt; his mother, Wanda Godsey Moore (Lewis); his Children, Trevor Godsey (Brittany); Madison Godsey, and Kenzie Godsey; his sister Megan Moore (Brandon); his niece, Alaina; his nephew Braydon; and several cousins.

Among those grieving is his loyal companion and constant sidekick, Benny, a faithful dog who rarely left his side. Their bond was a source of comfort and strength, especially in recent years.
