Ruby Lee Stanley Temples, 97, of Bedford, died, Friday 20, January 20, 2012 at Oakwood Manor Health & Rehab. She was born October 26, 1914 in Bedford County, a daughter of the late Parry Lee Cundiff Thomas and William Howard Thomas.
In addition to her parents, Ruby was preceded in death by her first husband, Thomas Bernard Stanley and her second husband, Samuel Edwin Temples; three brothers, William Frederick Thomas, Wilmot Howard Thomas and Lawrence Earl Thomas; and a sister, Frances T. Stanley.
Ruby was a member of Longwood Avenue Baptist Church. She enjoyed flowers and working in her garden. She was a country lady who worked towards simplicity.
Ruby is survived by three children, Thomas Bernard Stanley, Jr. and his wife, Sarah, Howard Earl Stanley and his wife, Linda; Virginia Eileen Temples; a sister, Dorothy T. Stanley; five grandchildren, Malcolm L. Parker and his wife, Ann, Douglas G. Parker and his wife, Sheryl, Robert E. Stanley and his wife, Amy, Amy S. Williams and her husband, Art and Thomas Scott Stanley and his wife, Sara; fifteen great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Ruby\"™s life will be conducted at 2 PM, Sunday, January 22, 2012 in the Tharp Funeral Chapel with Rev. Richard L. Dooley officiating. Graveside services will be private. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM, Saturday, January 21, 2012 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford, 586-3443.
