Roy Neal Adams, 78, of Lynchburg, died Thursday, October 22, 2015, as a result of an accident while deer hunting, which is what he loved to do. He was the husband of the late Olivia Turner Adams.
Born Sunday, November 8, 1936, in Hurt, Va. Roy was a son of the late Roy Thomas Adams and the late Lena Shelton Adams.
Roy is survived by his daughter, Rita A. Formon and her husband, Michael, of Lynchburg; grandchildren, Kory Formon and his wife, Ginny, of Charlotte, N.C and Dustin Formon and his wife, Rachel, of Lynchburg; two sisters, Mary A. Blair, of Lynchburg, and Clarice A. Almond, of Hurt; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, Roy was preceded in death by three brothers,
Oscar “Bobby” Adams, Lynwood “Billy” Adams, and Carlton “Buddy” Adams.
A “Good Ole Boy,” Roy was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to hunt, fish, and garden. He enjoyed sharing the fruits of his gardening with friends. Roy was known for his sense of humor. He loved his daughter and his cat, “Foots,” very much. God and his church were important to him as well. He was a charter member of Lynchburg Church of Christ on Leesville Road.
The family will receive friends from 3 p.m.to 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 25, 2015, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. A celebration of Roy’s life will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 26, 2015, at Tharp Funeral Chapel with Pastor Ray Eure officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
