Ronald Wayne Pack

Ronald Wayne Pack, 78, of Rustburg, Virginia, passed away on July 4, 2026. He was the son of the late Herbert Eustis Pack and Mildred Driskill Pack.

Ron was born on June 13,1948, in Radford, Virginia. He graduated from Radford High School in 1966. Ron proudly served in the United States Navy for four years. While serving in the navy he served deployments in both Vietnam and Okinawa as a Seabee with Mobile Construction Battalion 4. Ron earned a bachelor’s degree in Building Construction at Virginia Tech. Ron retired from Bat Masonry after 33 years of dedicated service. After retirement, he continued to work part-time at M. H. Masonry & Associates.

Ron was a devoted member of New Bethel Church and was a passionate Hokie. He was an avid member of the NMCB4 Seabees. Growing up in Virginia, with a father that worked on the railroad, he inherited a love of trains. Ron enjoyed serving as a boy scout troop leader with his son Lucas from 1997-2006. Ron was a master woodworker and loved to make precious keepsakes for family and friends. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his eight grandchildren. Everyone that met Ron, loved his sense of humor and his jokes.

Ron is survived by his wife, Allene Pack, children Gretchen Koenig, Eric Koenig III and wife Anne Koenig, Brynn Simons and husband Adam Simons, Lauren Lesniak and husband John Lesniak; grandchildren, Haydyn Lesniak, Camdyn Lesniak, Asa Koenig, Londyn Lesniak, Gus Koenig, Peyton Simons, Sarah Simons, and Max Simons; siblings, sisters, Bobbie Trent, Jane Evans and husband Rex, twin brother Don Pack and wife Boo Pack, Sam Pack and wife Vege Pack; sisters-in-law Claudia Long, Linda Parks, Frankie Dalton, Sarah Thomas; brother-in-law Mike Thomas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Ron is preceded in death by his son Lucas Pack; nephew Brian Trent; brothers-in-law, Samuel Trent, Chauncy Parks, Joy Long Jr, and Dana Parks; and sister-in-law April Parks.

A visitation will be held on July 10, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, 220 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg.

A memorial service will be held on July 11, 2026, at 1:00 PM at New Bethel Church, 5854 Nowlins Mill Road, Gladys, VA with Reverend Albert Read and Roger Powell officiating.
