Robert Kenneth (Bobb) Raysor's faith was made sight on December 28, 2025, when he closed his eyes on this life and immediately entered Heaven, his eternal Home. Bobb had excitedly longed to go there ever since he accepted God's free gift of salvation by asking Jesus to come into his life at age 14.
A dedicated, beloved Bible teacher, Bobb invested countless hours in preparation and shared God’s Word faithfully. His ministries included a Friday night home Bible study he taught for 20 years; classes at Thomas Road Baptist Church and Heritage Baptist Church; and devotions at work for Dr. Jerry Falwell Sr.'s Old-Time Gospel Hour and later Liberty University. As a teenager, he taught a Sunday school class and shared the gospel of Jesus Christ weekly in a jail. Bobb had a warm baritone voice and rejoiced in singing hymns and Southern Gospel music, especially when he sang in quartets. His mother taught him to play the piano, and Bobb taught himself to play the guitar. He could play both by ear and by reading music. A gifted artist, Bobb frequently created oil paintings and other works cherished by his family.
Bobb strove for perfection in all pursuits both professional and personal and enjoyed refining whatever he did. Born August 17, 1940, in Lakeland, Florida, where he was raised, Bobb began his career at a medical supply store and then spent 18 years at People’s Bank of Lakeland, advancing from teller to managing the bank’s first Data Processing Department.
In 1978, Bobb’s heart’s desire was fulfilled when he was hired by a Christian ministry where he served for 38 years. He visited donors in the Midwest for the Old-Time Gospel Hour television ministry and Liberty University. Later he was transferred to Lynchburg, Virginia, to become the ministry’s first Faith Partner Coordinator, ministering to monthly supporters. Eventually he led their first in-house data processing department and spent much of his career in Information Technologies at Liberty University. Bobb often said God brought him to Lynchburg to meet Kay, the love of his life whom he married in 1981. Together they cherished their faith, their family, their friends, and many opportunities to travel. Bobb is survived by his wife, Kay, as well as their granddaughters, Brittany L. Raysor, Lindsey J. Raysor, and Celeste A. Raysor; their mother Sandra L. Raysor; and Kay’s cousins whom he considered his own. He was preceded in death by his parents, Chalmers L. and Ethel T. Raysor; his sister, M. Carolyn Raysor; his son, John Kevin Raysor; his father-in-law and mother-in-law. Bobb looked forward to reuniting with them in Heaven. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Bobb’s memory be made to Thomas Road Baptist Church, 1 Mountain View Rd., Lynchburg, VA 24502; to a homebound person; or to someone in need of encouragement through a visit or a phone call.
The family expresses deep gratitude for the compassionate care provided by the staff of Runk and Pratt Forest Memory Care and Gentle Shepherd Hospice.
