Robert Eugene “Bobby” Overstreet, 87, of Bedford gained his wings on Thursday, October 1, 2026. He was born on April 4, 1939, in Bedford, VA to Claudie and Helen Andrews Overstreet. In addition to his parents Bobby was preceded in death by his siblings, Tommy, Johnny, Wayne, Otey, Shirley and Marylee.

Bobby was a truck driver for many years. Having traveled across the United States in many ways, he knew all the best routes and loving sharing the shortcuts with his family when they were traveling. He also enjoyed watching sporting events, especially NASCAR and Racing of any kind. He loved his family and friends.

Bobby is survived by his son, Melvin Brown and his wife, Traci of Roanoke; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two sisters, Francis and her husband Ray and Marjorie and her husband, Walter. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.

Following cremation, the family will receive friends from 4:00 until 6:00pm on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford.
