Robert “Twoway” Eugene Thornton, 45, of Lynchburg, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2016. He was the husband of Tina Karnes Thornton.
Born on February 27, 1970, Robert was a son of the late Jane Thornton Wade and Steve Wade, Sr. He was a heavy equipment operator with Best Grading.
In addition to his wife and parents, Robert leaves behind his children, Robbie Thornton (Nicole), Jonathan Thornton (Morgan), William Rogers, and Katelyn Thornton; his grandchildren, Alexis Thornton and Andrew Thornton; his siblings, Margaret Wade, Steve Wade, and Tony Wade ( Karen); his biological father, Eugene King; his sisters-in-law, Donna Poe (Steve), and Carol Layne (Wendal); and his mother-in-law, Mary Karnes.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his son, Brandon Ryan Thornton; his step-son, Jacob Daniel Harris; and his father-in-law, Bill Karnes.
Tina would like to extend a special thanks to Lisa White for allowing their sons to lay Robert to rest beside Brandon.
A celebration of Robert’s life will be held at Tharp Funeral Home in Lynchburg on Friday, January 15, 2016 at 11 o’clock a.m. with Pastor Bill Evans officiating. A visitation will take place Thursday, January 14, 2016 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. Interment will follow the service at Cumbie Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to Tharp Funeral Home, Care of Robert Eugene Thornton Funeral Fund, 220 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg, Va. 24502.
