Robert "Bill" William Crank Jr.

Robert "Bill" William Crank Jr. passed away in Lynchburg on April 16, 2026. He was born in Lynchburg on August 19, 1957, to Nancy Layne Crank and Robert William Crank Sr. He was the second born of three children and the only son. 

He was known for his love of working with his hands. Whether he was building something or fixing something, he found great joy in doing it all. He loved his family and friends more than anything and was always happy to help. Most importantly, he was a father and grandfather, the titles he was most proud of.

He is survived by his daughter, Catie Crank, of Lynchburg; younger sister, Susan Poltar, of Lynchburg; his granddaughter, Caylee Mae Craft, of Lynchburg; a brother-in-law, Doug Gentry; several nieces and nephews, and special friend, Linda Bowden. 

He is proceeded in death by his father, Robert, his sister; Virginia Gentry; his mother, Nancy; and brother-in-law, Richard Poltar. The family will have a celebration of life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Epilepsy Foundation in his honor.
