Rebecca Shannon Denton

January 10, 1973 — July 15, 2025

Lynchburg, Virginia

Rebecca Shannon Denton, 52, of Lynchburg, Virginia passed away on July 15, 2025. She was the daughter of the late James Denton and Sandra Denton, and the wife of James Ollie, though separated they remained good friends and spoke often. Shannon was born on January 10, 1973, in Lynchburg, Virginia.

She graduated from Rustburg High School, where she participated in school plays and made lasting friendships and memories she carried with her always.

Shannon was a member of Flat Creek Baptist Church of Lynchburg.

She had a deep love for music and movies—a passion lovingly passed down from her parents, James and Sandra. She shared that enthusiasm with her siblings, Chris and Jon, helping ignite the same spark in them. Some of her most cherished memories were singing in the choir led by her father, alongside her mother and brother Chris. She also attended countless concerts over the years, with a taste that ranged from 80's hair bands like Whitesnake and Mötley Crüe to the New Kids on the Block and Marky Mark. Time spent with her children, cousins, friends, and family was the heart of her happiest moments. She was a gentle, kind soul who continued to make new friends throughout her life.

Shannon is survived by her mother, Sandra Denton of Madison Heights; her children, Caleb Denton of Roanoke and Jon Denton-Ollie of Lynchburg; her siblings, Robin Hughes, along with her husband Robert Hughes of Rustburg, Chris Denton-Davis and his husband, Jay Davis-Denton, of Los Angeles, California, and Jon Denton, his wife Mandy Denton and their children Simon, Chloe, and River of Lynchburg; and her longtime friend and former partner, James Ollie of Roanoke. She also leaves behind many loving family members, especially cousins and aunts who meant so much to her, and friends who will hold her memory close to their hearts.

There will be no public services, but friends and family can leave remembrances on the funeral home website. Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg is assisting the family. To send condolences, please visit www.tharpfuneralhome.com.
