Rachel Lambright Shenigo died on Monday, June 29, 2026, in Lynchburg, Virginia. She was the wife of the late Michael George Shenigo.

Born in Tiffin, Ohio on October 5, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Francis Lambright and Florence Scheiber Lambright. A lifelong learner, she graduated from Heidelberg College and continued her education at the University of North Carolina, Winthrop University, and the University of Virginia.

Rachel had lived in Virginia since 1978. Previously she lived in Ohio, Michigan and North Carolina.

She was a dedicated volunteer with Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, PTO, CASA, Maier Museum and the Daura Gallery.

Consistent with her commitment to causes she believed in, she served on the Boards of Meals on Wheels, YWCA, Old City Cemetery and the Family Selection Committee for Habitat for Humanity. She was a contributing member and served in numerous leadership roles of NSDAR, the James River Chapter of VADAR and was a long term Docent at Thomas Jefferson’s Poplar Forest as well as Point of Honor.

She was a devoted parishioner of Holy Cross Catholic Church and also enjoyed the Ragged Robin Garden Club and playing bridge.

Rachel is survived by her children, Michael Paul Shenigo and his wife, Ann, Lynchburg, VA, Terese Elizabeth Bollman and her husband, John, St. Joseph, MI, Thomas Arthur Shenigo and his wife, Terri, Mt. Holly, N.C., Amy Elizabeth Marks and her husband, Jeff, Charleston, SC; and Robert John Shenigo and his wife, Aimee, White Stone, VA. Her grandchildren, Michael Shenigo, Dr. Brennan Bollman, Barrick Bollman, Stephanie Zaino, Stephen Shenigo, Sarah Marks, Brant Shenigo, Cole Shenigo, and a great grandson, James Zaino. She was preceded in death by her beloved grandson, Andrew Hirsh Marks and brothers, Arthur James Lambright and William Edward Lambright.

Rachel is requesting no flowers. Period. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Cross Catholic Church Cemetery Fund, 710 Clay St. Lynchburg, VA 24504, Meals on Wheels, 605 Clay St. Lynchburg, VA 24504, or Habitat For Humanity, 360 Alleghany Ave. Lynchburg, VA 24503.

A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, July 25, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 710 Clay Street, Lynchburg, VA, 24504. A luncheon will follow the service in the Church’s Fellowship Hall. The graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Church Cemetery, 1341 Bedford Ave. Lynchburg, VA 24504.
