Rachel Bair Blandford, 87, of Lynchburg, passed away Monday, November 28, 2011. Born in Bourbon, IN, she was a daughter of James Ulmont Bair and Mina Keyser Bair.
A teacher for 27 years in Lynchburg Public Schools, Rachel loved and valued the worth of teaching.
In addition to her parents, Rachel was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, William E. Blandford, two brothers, and five sisters. She is survived by her three children: William E. \"Bill\" Blandford, II (Jennifer) of Richmond, VA; Gail Blandford of Lafayette, CO; and Linda Blandford-Beringsmith (Alan) of Alamo, CA; four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Summit Health and Rehabilitation for their conscientious and professional care.
In lieu of flowers, if desired, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the University of Virginia\"™s School of Medicine to benefit Alzheimer\"™s research (UVA Office of Development, P O Box 400807, Charlottesville, VA 22904-4807, attention: Dept. of Neurology for dementia research).
