Phyllis Morgan Wakefield “Gam Gam”, 70, of Vinton,VA, passed away in her sleep on Friday, December 14, 2018 after suffering a stroke in November. She was born in Ronceverte, WV on May 5, 1948. A daughter of the late, Fred Gray Morgan and Frances Elizabeth Masters Morgan.
Phyllis devoted her life to caring for others. Not only as a wonderful Mother & Gam Gam, but as a daughter, older sister, and as a nurse for over 45 years. She had a very giving and caring soul and was always there for her family and friends. Family meant everything to her and she made sure to instill that in her daughters.
She is survived by her two daughters, Morgan E. Coble and her husband, Tim and Monica D. Slate and her husband, Victor; three grandchildren, Hunter Carlton, Devin Coble and Gunnar Coble; two brothers, Wayne Morgan and his wife, Susie and Bryan Morgan and his wife, Dawn; 5 nephews & nieces, Chad Morgan and wife Hope & their three children, Amanda Morgan Asbury and husband Ben and their two daughters, Matt Morgan and wife Ashley and their three children, and Walter Morgan; and Krysta Morgan.
A memorial service and celebration of Phyllis’s life will be conducted at McLean Church in Ronceverte, WV on, December 29, 2018. Visitation will be from 11:00am – 1:00pm with the service to follow.
