Peter Matthews Snelling

Peter Matthews Snelling, 71, of Bedford died Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at his residence.  He was born November 4, 1938 in Roanoke, a son of the late William Thomas Snellings and Pearl Catherine Johnson.



Peter served in the United States Navy during Korean Conflict, Vietnam, and Desert Storm. He was also a member of the VFW Post 2157 and a past VFW Dept. of Virginia Commander.



In addition to his parents, Peter was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Snellings.  He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Sandra Gail Mills Snelling; one daughter, Michelle Behrns and her husband, Robert of Goode; two sisters, Pearl Orrick and her husband, Anthony and Shirley Vandergrift both of Roanoke; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved cats, Patches and Smokie.
