Peggy Edmondson Elder

January 18, 1948 — March 13, 2019

Margaret “Peggy” Edmondson Elder passed away in her home with her family by her side, on Wednesday, March 13, 2019. Peggy was born on January 18, 1948 to the late Edgar Allan and Dorothy Kiser Edmondson.  In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her sisters, Kathy Doss and Betty Edmondson

She lived in Lynchburg, attended West End School and graduated from E.C. Glass High School in 1966. Many of her favorite memories were with her lifelong best friends Linda Saferight and Dianne Johnston.

She worked for the U.S. Census Bureau. While raising her children she joined Heritage Baptist Church in 1997 after Dr. Kroll shared his passion for of the gospel with her. She sang with the Young at Heart Ministry and enjoyed fellowship, trips with Jim and Cindy Tucker’s Sunday school class, and making many wonderful friendships including Deborah, Louise, Phil, and Irma.

Peggy’s favorite activities included caring for her beloved dog, Lucky, watching car races, attending plays, musicals, dancing and vacationing at the beach with her family and spending time with her closest friends.

She is survived by her children; Melissa Elder, Chris Elder, Courtney Horner and husband, Jason; two grandchildren, Jessica Coleman and husband, Tom Stupplebeen, Ainsley Horner; two great-grandchildren, Connor and Jonathan; brother, Allen Edmondson and his wife, Carolyn; brother-in-law, Steve Doss and best friend, Linda Saferight.

A Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 18, 2019 at Tharp Funeral Home, 220 Breezewood Dr., Lynchburg, VA, 24502.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park.
