Patty Lawanda Hogue

Patty Lawanda Hogue, 51, of Lynchburg, Virginia, departed this life on Tuesday, June 16, 2026. Born on October 22, 1974, to the late Herbert “Benny” Winfield and her mother Sara “Sue” Whitehead, Patty was one of a kind and everyone who knew her felt that.

She was refreshingly real. Patty had no filter and no pretense. If she loved you, you felt it deeply, and she made sure of it. Her laugh was contagious, her honesty was legendary, and her loyalty to the people she cared about was unwavering. There was truly no one like her. She loved her Cowboys football team.

Patty was preceded in death by her sisters Angela Whitehead and Rhonda Whitehead Robinson.

She leaves behind her children, Ariyanna Chawntell Turner (Tyrek), Melinda DeShawnia Whitehead, and Tywan Eugene Turner Jr. (Hollie Lynn Jenkins), along with her cherished grandchildren London Turner, Dreylan Gray, Kyzeer Hopkins, Ty’Lanni Hopkins, Michelle Whitehead, Bentley Rankins, Brayden Rankins, Braxtyn Jenkins, and Joslyn Turner. She is also survived by her siblings Ann Marie (Carnell) Lewis, Thomas (Tasha) Whitehead, James Whitehead, Mark Rose, Tonya Massenburg, Jessica Winfield, Jennifer Winfield and her devoted cousin, Tracy “Trebu” Letchford, who remained faithfully by her side throughout her journey; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever carry her memory in their hearts. 

A celebration of Patty’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.
