Olive Landis Horner

Olive Moyer Landis Horner, 95, of Lynchburg, VA, died Thursday, January 28, 2010.  She was the wife of the late Louis Harry Horner, of Tuckerton, NJ.

Mrs. Horner was born Tuesday, March 10, 1914, in Lancaster, PA, a daughter of the late Rev. Elbert Ephrim Landis and Henrietta Kern Moyer Landis.  She was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd of Harrisburg, PA, Eastern Star, Daughters of the American Revolution, and Harrisburg Choral Society.  In high school, she sang the lead in operettas, she was a devoted member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd choir and many other choirs since the age of 13, she was a violinist, an avid bridge player for many years, and was a talented pianist who enjoyed entertaining her friends and co-residents at Westminster-Canterbury.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ellen Whyte and husband, Edward, of Union Hall, VA; her grandchildren, Heather Jean Whyte McFeeley and husband, Mike, and Chadford James Whyte and wife, Amy; her great grandchildren, Kelly McFeeley, Kassidy McFeeley, Keri McFeeley, Katelyn Whyte, and Zachary Whyte; her sisters, Henrietta Moyer Landis Jahnsen of Sellersville, PA, Ellen Moyer Landis Weaver of Clearwater, FL, and her sister-in-law Kathryn Biehn Landis, as well as several nephews and nieces.

In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her four brothers, William and Luther, who died as infants, Elbert who died in 2000, and her twin brother who died in 2008.

A memorial service will be held in at a later date at St. John\"™s Lutheran Church in Richlandtown, PA.  Inurnment will follow in St. John\"™s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Quakertown, PA.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 2316 Atherholt Road, Lynchburg, VA 24501.
