Obie Lewis Carter, Jr., 65, of Bedford, Virginia, passed away on Monday, August 24th, 2026. He was the son Obie Lewis Carter, Sr. and the late Carol Overstreet Carter Stanley.

He was born on December 8, 1960, in Bedford, Virginia. Obie worked as a fabricator at Aerofin for many years. He had a deep appreciation for music, especially rock and roll, and enjoyed playing the drums. He also loved being outdoors, especially fishing, and had a love for photography. He enjoyed the simple things in life.

In addition to his father, Obie is survived by his daughter, Brianna Carter Amick and husband, Taylor; grandchildren, Owen and Ella Amick; cousins, Mark Furgurson, Patricia Parker Davidson, and Dennis Parker; and numerous extended family and friends in the community.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Timothy Davis Carter and Kenneth Jeffery Carter.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Cool Spring Presbyterian Church, Thaxton, Va.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 3:00 pm at Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford with pastor Geoff Hubbard officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service. Inurnment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
