Norma Jean Brown

Norma Jean Brown departed her earthly life on July 21, 2026, at the age of 80. She was born on March 20, 1946, to the late William Franklin Brown and Mary Brown Jones.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Roger Brown, and her sisters, Brenda Watson and Francene Jackson.

She is survived by two daughters, Donna Brown and Deborah Brown, both of Lynchburg, Virginia; her grandson, Damian Booker (Patricia), of Washington, D.C.; two great-grandchildren, Nadege Booker and William Booker, also of Washington, D.C.; and Micah Jones, whom she thought of as a grandson.

She is also survived by five sisters, Carolyn High of Cary, North Carolina; Yvonne Kiser (Robert) of Lynchburg, Virginia; Mildred Turner of Madison Heights, Virginia; and Clara Moore (Johnny) of Birmingham, Alabama; and three brothers, Ben Jones Jr., Raymond Jones, and Kenneth Jones, all of Lynchburg, Virginia, as well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Norma worked at the Central Virginia Training Center for numerous years and was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Lynchburg, Virginia, until her health began to decline. She served as a deaconess and was active on the Usher Board and Kitchen Committee. In her free time, she loved helping others, most notably by baking her homemade biscuits for family and friends closest to her.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Centra Hospice and Caregivers for the compassionate care and kindness they provided during Norma's illness.
