Nollner Morrissett Watts of Lynchburg, Virginia, died on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at Westminster Canterbury. Nollner was born on June 3, 1936, in Lynchburg to the late Landon Dewey Morrissett and Annie Ruth Coleman Morrissett. She graduated from E.C. Glass High School in 1954 and Salem College in 1958.
A devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Nollner worked as a case worker with Lynchburg Social Service before starting her family and becoming the full-time matriarch of the Watts household.
She served the Lynchburg community for over 40 years as a volunteer. Nollner was a Meals On Wheels driver and board member. She volunteered at St. John's Episcopal Church, answering the phone, and served on numerous committees. She enhanced patient care through the Virginia Baptist Hospital Auxiliary. Nollner was a parishioner of St. John's Episcopal Church, a member of The Lynchburg Garden Club, the Junior League of Lynchburg, and Oakwood Country Club.
Nollner shared her gift for hospitality -- cooking for family and friends and entertaining in her home. She enjoyed reading, playing bridge and tennis, following ACC football and basketball, and relaxing at Smith Mountain Lake and Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Nollner felt her highest calling in life was raising her three children and being involved in the lives of her five grandchildren.
Nollner is survived by her husband of 66 years, Thomas Ashby Watts, III (Smokie); daughter Langhorne Kent Watts LeBoutillier (Phil); son Thomas Ashby Watts IV (Merrill); and son William Landon Watts; grandchildren: Thomas Ashby Watts V (Ash), Carlisle Elisabeth Watts, and Harrison Clark Watts; William Landon Watts, Jr., and Elizabeth Tyler Watts; and her sister, Ruth Kyle Morrissett Wells.
The family would like to especially thank the devoted caregivers at Westminster Canterbury for their professional and compassionate nursing care of her over the past three years.
