Nancy Lee Wade Zappulla

Nancy Lee Wade Zappulla, 74, of Lynchburg, Virginia went to Heaven on Thursday, August 7, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Murray Granger Wade Jr. and Frances Elizabeth Powell Wade.

Nancy was born on January 13, 1951, in Norfolk, Virginia. She attended school at Radford University, then pursued her career as an English teacher for over 30 years, working in public and private schools, prison, and the Lynchburg Regional Juvenile Detention Center.

Nancy was formerly an ordained minister at Court Street Baptist Church in Lynchburg, Virginia.

She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth “Libby” Ashby and husband, Clay, of Lynchburg, VA; brother, Richard “Rick” Wade of Garland, TX; nephew Stephen Wade and his wife Amber of Lancaster, TX; nephew Michael Wade of Dallas, TX.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Elizabeth “Beth” Wade.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.

A visitation will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025 from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Tharp Funeral Home, 220 Breezewood Dr, Lynchburg, VA 24502. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 2:00 pm at Oasis Church, 165 Melody Ln, Monroe, VA 24574.
