Nancy graduated from Bedford High School in 1957. She was a substitute teacher in Bedford County Schools for over 30 years. Nancy was very active in her community and held many positions at Oakland United Methodist Church in Goode, Virginia; most notably, the position of church treasurer for at least 25 years.

The most important thing in her life, besides her church, was her family. Nancy was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother (Nana), and great-grandmother. She enjoyed baking homemade sourdough bread and her famous pound cakes. Nancy also loved to sing in Oakland UMC’s choir where she knew every song and melody by heart. Feeding and watching the hummingbirds outside her home brought Nancy tremendous joy. She and Bob always enjoyed their yearly trips to Carolina Beach to meet up with old friends and go fishing. Nancy was so proud of her sons and she was their biggest supporter. She will be missed.

Nancy’s family would like to express their gratitude to all of the staff at the Bedford County Nursing Home for their excellent care over the last 8 years. Those who wish to remember her can contribute to Oakland Community Church, 2465 Goode Station Road, Goode Va 24556 or the Forest Fire Department, PO Box 140, Forest, VA 24551.
