Listen to Obituary

Nancy Rae Miller Brasure, 75, of Lynchburg, Virginia went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 3, 2026. Nancy was born in Ashtabula, Ohio on February 23, 1951, to Ralph Raymond Miller and Jean Carol Miller. She has one beloved sister, Patricia Shorner. Nancy graduated from Mount Union College in Alliance, Ohio in 1972. She taught middle school in Painesville, Ohio, before she moved to Lynchburg, VA in 1976 to attend Liberty Baptist Seminary. She later taught high school English and Spanish for a total of 35 years for Bedford County Public Schools, as well as Lynchburg Christian Academy and Timberlake Christian School.

Nancy was fully involved in her daughters’ lives. Whatever they did, she supported them. From being a band mom, to sewing costumes for plays, to many church activities, she was always present. She was a long-time member at Heritage Baptist Church where she was also heavily involved in any way she could – choir, women’s ministry, youth group and Bible studies.

The family would like to thank the devoted care givers who faithfully loved and took care of Nancy.

She was a devoted mother to her two surviving daughters, Sarah Hankinson (Josh) of Forest, VA and Elizabeth Baker (Chris) of Huddleston, VA, along with her grandchildren Sabrina Hankinson and Summer Hankinson; Tyler Baker, Logan Baker, Katie Baker, Micah Baker and Nolan Baker. She found great joy in her grandchildren.

“Know therefore that the Lord your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations of those who love him and keep his commandments.” Deuteronomy 7:9
