Myles Alexander Jackson, 86, of Lynchburg, Virginia passed away on August 13, 2025. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts and grew up in Exeter, New Hampshire. He was married to the love of his life, Elaine Gott Jackson for 35 years.
Myles graduated from the University of New Hampshire and later entered the United States Army in 1962. Corporal Myles Jackson received the “Good Conduct Medal” and was honorably discharged in August of 1967.
He was then hired as a project electrical engineer for the U.S. Postal Service. He did extensive traveling for the U.S.P.S for several years and retired in March of 1997.
Myles and Elaine searched for the perfect retirement home and neighborhood for 3 years, before finding their ideal home in Lynchburg in 2002.
Once they were both retired, they pursued their favorite hobby, traveling. They visited numerous states across the USA, and at least a dozen other countries. Myles meticulously handled all of the travel planning, which enabled them to get the most enjoyment out of their trips.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elaine Gott Jackson; uncle, Ellsworth MacDonald; and brother, Donald Jackson.
Myles is survived by Elaine’s family members; Barbara (Gott) Mason, Michael Mason, Robert Gott, Patty (O’Brien) Gott, Brian Gott, Fay (Brinkman) Gott, along with several nieces, nephews, and their children.
A memorial service will be held on September 13, 2025, from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory located at 220 Breezewood Drive Lynchburg, Virginia 24502. Following the service, family, friends and neighbors will gather at Myles’ home for a reception.
