Moses Kyle Williams, Jr., “Drummer Boy,” 85, of Lynchburg, Virginia, passed away on April 12, 2026, at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. Kyle was surrounded by his beloved wife and adoring daughter.

Kyle was born on August 15, 1940, to Moses Kyle Williams, Sr., and Margaret Beardsworth Williams, at Virginia Baptist Hospital in Lynchburg. Kyle was preceded in death by his parents, his brother William “Randy” Williams, and wife Linda Maria Williams.

Kyle’s life began at his family’s home place of Snowden, in the mountains along the James River. He enjoyed many hours on their houseboat, motor boats, and water-skiing with his brothers Randy and Jon, and their cousin Billy. He loved riding Harley Davidson motorcycles with Randy in other seasons of life. He was fascinated with cars and owned/traded several “street rods,” Hummers, Corvette, among others.

Kyle was a very hard, dedicated worker, operating several very successful Crest Cleaners stores in Manassas, VA. He was known for his strong business skills, caring management style, and was loved by all of his employees. He went on to open his own business, Crestwood Cleaners, which he operated until retirement.

One of his greatest passions in life was his music; he was an exceptionally masterful and expressive drummer. He infused his music with love, artistry and finesse. His favorite times of playing were with his brother Jon. The Williams Brothers spread much musical joy in Lynchburg and throughout northern Virginia. Kyle and Jon also played with many other well-known musicians throughout the Piedmont. Kyle was deeply proud of the musical talents of his daughter, Susan, and grandson, Joshua, who inherited Kyle’s gift as a drummer. Kyle was overjoyed when Joshua joined The Williams Brothers on piano for several musical events.

Kyle’s love for music was surpassed only by his love for his family. He loved spending time with them, celebrating special occasions, and he was so proud of all of their accomplishments. Kyle loved his wife Savy so very deeply, and he was incredibly proud of her amazing cooking and sewing talents. Kyle’s greeting cards for each of his family members were an art form. It was very important to him to show his great love for us through personalized messages, even including his own hand-drawn illustrations.

He is survived by his wife, Savy, daughter, Susan Carol (Michael), grandson, Joshua Cruse (Melanie), great-grandson, Elliot Cruse; brother, Jon B. Williams (Trisha); stepson Salim Pin (Srun) and their children; nieces, Cyndy Kyle Williams, Kellee Williams Glass (Sean) and her sons, nephew, Jon B. Williams, Jr. (Kimberly) and his children, and many additional family and friends.

A celebration of Kyle’s life will be held at a later date.

The family would like to express deepest gratitude to the wonderful Centra Caregivers — loving nursing staff in Medical ICU, and the amazing Intensivists and Cardiologists who provided excellent care. We are also truly grateful for the compassionate Chaplains of Centra Spiritual Care who ministered to us throughout our time there.
