Mildred M. Guss, 95, of State College, Pennsylvania, who was residing in Lynchburg, Virginia passed away on April 10, 2026. She was the daughter of the late W. Franklin McClellan and Algie Emery McClellan.
"Millie" as she was affectionately known by her friends and family, was born on February 23, 1931, in Centre Hall, Pennsylvania to W. Franklin and Algie McClellan.
Millie graduated from State College High School class of 1949 and attended Pennsylvania State University. She worked as an administrative assistant for the family business, McClellan Chevrolet Co. which was renamed McClellan Motors and then McClellan Enterprises in State College Pennsylvania.
Millie enjoyed many hobbies throughout her life, including playing golf at the State College Elks Country Club and playing bridge with friends, both in person and online. She also found great joy in sewing and knitting for her family. An avid Penn State fan, she devoted her Saturdays to cheering on the football team and attended many games at Beaver Stadium. During the early years of her retirement, Millie spent the winter months at her condo in Celebration, Florida, where she loved welcoming visits from friends and family.
Millie will be remembered most for her gentle spirit and her deep devotion as a loving mother and grandmother. She cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, finding special joy in holding and rocking the babies.
Millie is survived by her four children, Franklin Horner, Donnis Heggenstaller(Don), Suzi Heller(James), and David Guss Jr.(Kirsten). Seven grandchildren, Brenda Koch(Scott), Melissa Baughman, Shannon Sylvester(Sam), Ryan Wells(Leigh), Alex Wells(Jessica), Andrew Wells, Lindsey Midkiff(Kevin). Twelve great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. One sister Byrnina(Jane) Armes.
Millie generously gave her time as treasurer of The College Area Auxiliary to the Centre Community Hospital. She was a longtime member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church in State College, Pennsylvania, where she had worshipped since 1946.
