Michael Hunter
Tyree
January 3, 1942 – December 17, 2025
Mike Tyree, 83, of Madison Heights VA, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, December 17, 2025.
He was born in Lynchburg Virginia on January 3, 1942, son of the late Paul Eli Tyree & Lena George Tyree.
He was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Betty Tyree Peters.
He worked for Greif Brothers Corporation for many years until he retired. Anyone who had the honor of meeting him knew he was incredibly smart and gifted. He loved operating his Lathe, anything he needed or could not buy he would just make the piece to fix whatever it was he was working on. He was truly seen as a super hero by many especially his family and the neighborhood kids growing up, if anything needed to be fixed they would come to him. He always loved to tell a good story if he could catch someone to listen he would tell the stories over and over and laugh out loud each time he told it. His prized possession was his player piano, he loved playing it for everyone on their Birthday, if we had company he was sure to play it for them.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years Brenda and their four children, Kathy Tyree Wright and her husband David, Kristie Tyree Moats and her husband Todd, Stacey Glenn Tyree and his wife Kristy, Jarrett Daniel Tyree and his fiance Marsha Moore. His greatest pride was his family, everything he did he put his family first right up to his last day. His most prized joy were his 3 granddaughters, Charlotte, Lily and Violet Tyree. Having triplet Granddaughters spun his excitement for life into a whole new atmosphere. He carried pictures everywhere he went and would share them with complete strangers if they got close enough.
Our family could not be any more grateful that we had such a great example to live up to. He taught each of us to work hard, take pride in your work, be kind, honest, respectful and to love each other. Our family has always been close that will never change.
Anytime we would leave Daddy always told us and I quote "Be good and be careful, Watch out for the idiots."
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
