Michael Anthony Jackson peacefully entered eternal rest on Sunday, June 21, 2026. He was a man of gentle strength, abiding love, a sense of humor, and hard worker. Michael lived a life of kindness and made friends wherever he went.
Michael was born in Prince Edward County, Virginia. He was the beloved son of Alfred Jackson and Joyce Priscilla Jackson.
In June 1992, Michael married Gretna Greene. Their relationship was rooted in years of fond memories, fun times and many laughs. Michael was lovingly called “Pops” by his sons, daughters-in-law, and spiritual daughter, Selena Roberts. His grand girls and great granddaughter called him “Papa”. Michael (Mike) developed a love for truck driving and started a career of over-the-road trucking that lasted for more than 20 years. He was later employed by Mid-Atlantic Pipeline for more than six years. Lastly, Mike was a driver for Heartland Flag Car Service, LLC for twelve years.
Michael accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and attended Peaks Baptist Church with his uncle. Later in his adult life, Michael joined Heartland Outreach Ministries where he became a faithful member, servant and was baptized. He also attended The Bridge Church, now known as Reach City Church, where he served faithfully. In 2023, he joined the Ramp Church International in Lynchburg, VA. Michael served in the Security and Usher Ministries.
Michael was an avid hunter, who enjoyed fishing and spending quality time with his family and friends. Mike had a heart for helping others, he was full of life and laughter. He loved the Jesus and allowed the Holy Spirit to use him. He never met a stranger. He was a diehard Washington Commanders Fan.
Michael was preceded in death by his beloved father Alfed Jackson, his stepson Staphono Greene.
He leaves to cherish his loving wife, his sons: Schpiro Greene (Matesha), Damora Greene (Lakeeia), Dejuan Greene (Laken), his mother Joyce Jackson (family friend, Ed), his grandchildren: Chikirya “Pluck” Saunders, Abigail “Abby” Greene, Madisyn “Maddi” Greene, KayLin “Boo-Boo”, Jalen “Jay” Watson, Jakiyla “Ki” Watson, Ayden Branch, and great grandchildren: Zariah Rux and Kamryn “KJ” Watson.
He also leaves to cherish his three sisters: Brenda Welton, Wanda Jackson and Torrieann Jackson, three stepsisters: Michelle Ferguson (Mark), Shandell Berryman Howell (James), Sheree Berryman, brother Frederick Jackson and stepbrother Seon Barksdale (Tara) and stepmother Rosemary Jackson. Additionally, he leaves to cherish his mother-in-law Ethel Greene, brothers-in-law: Cornal Greene (Koresa), Thurston Greene (Martha), Ardric Greene (Phyllis), William Greene, and sisters-in-law: Debbie Greene and Paula Greene, one uncle of Prospect, one aunt of Prospect, one brother-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, a great-great niece, a great-great nephew and cousins. longtime best friend Michael Anthony Gillispie and a host of other good friends.
A homegoing celebration will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026 at The Ramp Church International at 12:00 P.M. Mr. Jackson will lie in repose one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Trinity Memorial Gardens Farmville, Va. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 26, 2026 at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg location from 6:00P.M. - 8:00P.M.
