Joe Doss, 25, of Lynchburg, Virginia, passed away on October 30, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones. He was the husband of Ashlee Doss and the son of Matthew Kause, Vanessa Fletcher, Lynn Doss, and Chris Doss.
Joe was born on May 3, 2001, in Lynchburg, Virginia. He attended school at Brookville High, graduating with an Advanced Diploma in 2019, before serving 4 years in the United States Marine Corps as an 1161 Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Technician for 2D LAAD BN at Cherry Point Air Station in Havelock, North Carolina. During his time in service, he married his high school sweetheart, Ashlee, and they lived together with their cats, Basil and the late Teeny. After receiving an Honorable Discharge and a VA rating of 100% P&T he moved back home to Lynchburg, Virginia, to continue his career as an HVAC Technician while catching two more cats, Xander and Sage.
Joe enjoyed playing baseball, watching drifting, hunting with his beloved Papaw, working on cars - especially his FRS, Cortana; playing with his kitty babies and other people’s pets, traveling to new places with his wife and family, watching scary movies while eating General Tso’s chicken from Oishii, drinking liquor and absolutely dominating enemies on video games, witnessing his sobrina’s (nieces) and all the little ones growing up, learning to carve the slopes on a snowboard with loved ones, goofing off with his siblings, and living his life to the fullest.
Joseph is survived by his wife, Ashlee; siblings, Gabriel, Lucas, Zoe, Damian, Jonathan, Taylor, and Lexie; parents, Matthew, Vanessa, Lynn, and Chris; grandparents, Roxi, Danny, Maria, Juan, Elizabeth, Michael Grayson Sr., Annette, Nancy, and Jim; aunts and uncles, Sam, Marissa, Tom, Darrell, Anita, and Bill. He is also survived by a vast and loving circle of Marines, other siblings, cousins, nieces, extended family members, and dear friends.
A memorial service will be held on December 4, 2026, at 1:00PM at Tharp Funeral Home in Lynchburg, Virginia. All current and former service members are welcomed and encouraged to attend in their uniforms.
